Xiaomi is not messing about with the rollout of MIUI 12 as it has brought two more devices onto its new OS. This time it is the Mi 10 and Mi 10 Lite in Europe, which follow the likes of the Mi 9 and Redmi K20 series. The Redmi 8A has finally received an OS upgrade too, nearly a year after its release.

Xiaomi is yet to confirm that it has started Round 2 of its MIUI 12 release schedule, but the updates it has started pushing to the Mi 10 and Mi 10 Lite would suggest otherwise. Both are part of Round 2, which also includes the Redmi Note 7 and Note 8 series among about three dozen devices.

Both updates are for devices enrolled on the European branch of MIUI. However, the MIUI 12 update for the Mi 10 is currently at the Beta Stable stage, while the one for the Mi 10 Lite has been released as a stable update. In practice, this means that MIUI 12 for the Mi 10 is being released to a few devices as a final bug check, while the one for the Mi 10 Lite should be available to all handsets on the European branch of MIUI.

The OTA and recovery ROM zips for both devices have been published though, should you wish to download and install them manually. Please note that the OTA is significantly smaller than the full build. The files are hosted on Xiaomi's servers and can be downloaded from the links below.

Separately, Xiaomi has started upgrading the Redmi 8A to Android 10. Xiaomi released the device on Android 9.0 Pie in September 2019, so it has been quite the wait for the device to receive its first OS upgrade. Please note that the update has only been rolled out to devices on the China branch of MIUI for the time being, although the build can be installed manually if you have an unlocked device. V11.0.2.0.QCPCNXM is a 1.8 GB download and includes the following changelog:

System

  • Updated Android Security Patch to July 2020. Increased system security.
  • Stable MIUI based on Android 10

According to past rumours, Xiaomi will begin upgrading the Redmi 8A to MIUI 12 from next month. The company may begin doing so in China as it has for the device's Android 10 upgrade, but we would expect other branches of MIUI to pick up both updates within a few weeks.
