Xiaomi has a lot of devices to upgrade to MIUI 12, but it is getting through them and their regional variants pretty quickly. The Mi 8 is the latest device to receive the company's latest OS, which is its second MIUI upgrade. The update is based on Android 10, to which the Mi 8 had already been upgraded courtesy of MIUI 11.
Xiaomi released the Mi 8 running the Android 8.1 Oreo version of MIUI 10 in June 2018, so the device is unlikely to be upgraded beyond Android 10. However, it should continue to receive MIUI updates until Xiaomi drops support for Android 10. The update is only rolling out to devices on the China branch of MIUI for the time being, but a wider rollout should commence within the next month or so. We have included a download link below should you wish to try MIUI 12 on an unlocked Mi 8, though.
The MIUI 12 has been expanded for the Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 7S too, with Xiaomi now rolling out the update to devices in India. The update follows an equivalent one issued to Chinese devices last week. Piunikaweb stresses that the update is only for those who have enrolled on the MIUI 12 Pilot Program, but you can download the build from the link below.
Similarly, Xiaomi has extended the release of MIUI 12 in Europe for the Redmi K20 and Mi 9T. The company has already released the OS upgrade to the devices, but there were complaints of it being a limited rollout. V12.0.2.0.QFJEUXM should be rolling out now across all handsets as an over-the-air (OTA) upgrade. However, you can download the update via the links below too. We have also included the OTA if you would prefer not to download the full update.
- Mi 8 - V12.0.1.0.QEACNXM (2.1 GB)
- Redmi Note 7/Redmi Note 7S - V12.0.0.2.QFGINXM (2.0 GB)
- Redmi K20/Mi 9T - V12.0.2.0.QFJEUXM (2.3 GB) / OTA (880 MB)
