The Poco X2 is likely to get the stable MIUI 12 update sometime in August as confirmed by a moderator in the official Poco India Telegram channel. This response comes in the wake of many users querying the company on Twitter, especially after knowing that the Poco X2's Chinese counterpart, the Redmi K30 4G, has already received two MIUI 12-related updates.

Xiaomi has been steadily rolling out the MIUI 12 update to various devices over the past few months. While the Poco F2 Pro, also known as the Redmi K30 Pro, recently received the global MIUI 12 stable bits, there have been no signs of the update for the Poco X2, also known as the Redmi K30 4G in China, despite the Chinese variant already on it — until now.

Since the Mi Community app is banned in India, several Poco X2 users have taken to Twitter to voice their concerns about not receiving any information pertaining to the likely date of getting the MIUI 12 update for their devices. In fact, the most recent OTA update that the Poco X2 received was just a MIUI 11 security patch.

Initially, even Poco seemed to be clueless as to when the update would be available. The speculated reason for the delay could be that Poco is working on an India-specific ROM that disables all the apps blacklisted by the Indian Government.

However, a recent announcement on the official Poco India Telegram group indicates that Poco X2 users may not have to wait too long after all. The announcement indicates that Poco F1 users selected for pilot testing the MIUI 12 ROM will be getting their update this week. Also being indicated is that the Poco X2 may get a stable MIUI 12 release sometime in August although the moderator fails to give a concrete date for the rollout.

It is indeed frustrating to play the waiting game while the same phone has already received two MIUI 12-related updates in China. But that could just be the consequence of Xiaomi releasing so many devices every year and having to cater to all of them.
