Poco has been hinting that the upcoming X3 may be a phone to take on the OnePlus Nord in its mid-range category. The brand has just sent out press invitations for this phone's worldwide launch. It will be a virtual event that will take place on September 7, 2020.

Following much speculation, Poco has finally made the X3 official beyond a doubt with a circular for its online global launch. The brand has hinted that it may make an effective OnePlus Nord rival, although the latest evidence of its existence does not confirm this outright.

On the other hand, its new launch invite includes the new tagline, "Exactly what you need", a clear dig at the Nord's own hype campaign. This phone is currently projected to have an all-new build rather than being another Xiaomi-device rebrand; however, the simple silhouette in its new material does nothing to confirm or deny that.

Not much is known about the X3's specs for sure. It may be the world's first Snapdragon 732G phone, although this is also not definite as yet. The launch poster does have the word "NFC" next to its product name, which, while potentially welcome, implies the scope for SKUs without this connectivity. However, all of this will be cleared up on September 7, 2020 at 14:00 CET.
