Xiaomi Smart Home Screen 6 launches as cheaper hub with 5.45-in touchscreen and voice commands
The Xiaomi Smart Home Screen 6 is now available to pre-order in China. The gadget supports the MIUI Home system, allowing you to use the device to control over 3,000 gadgets. For example, you can manage a smart light and adjust its brightness, open curtains and turn plugs on in one place.
Plus, you can set scenes to quickly alter the settings of multiple smart home devices at the click of a button; you could set a ‘good night’ sequence to close all curtains and blinds and turn off the lights. You can control the Smart Home Screen 6 via a smartphone app or Xiao AI voice commands. Facial recognition can identify your children and activate Kids mode on the hub, with parental controls such as content filtering.
Other features of the device include audio and video playback, timer setting and calendar management. You can also make video calls on the Smart Home Screen 6, with a 2 MP HD camera built into the gadget; you can cover the camera with a physical button for additional privacy. The hub had a kickstand and shortcut buttons such as microphone mute and volume controls.
The device has a 5.45-in touchscreen display with a 960 x 480 px resolution; overall, the hub measures 148.2 x 142.9 x 33.5 mm (~5.83 x 5.63 x 1.32-in). The mains-powered gadget supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0. You can currently pre-order the Xiaomi Smart Home Screen 6 in China for 349 yuan (~US$52); the gadget will eventually retail for 399 yuan (~US$59).
