The start of Xiaomi's Poco F8 series is likely a few months away. Nonetheless, a wealth of evidence has begun to emerge about two devices dubbed the Poco F8 Pro and Poco F8 Ultra after spring's Poco F7 Pro and Poco F7 Ultra (curr. $735 on Amazon).
On current thinking, the Poco F8 Pro and Poco F8 Ultra are thought to be the global versions of the Redmi K90 and Redmi K90 Pro Max, respectively. Yesterday, a Geekbench listing indicated that previous expectations about the Poco F8 Ultra were correct. Now, the same appears to be true for the Poco F8 Pro, which has now turned up on the same benchmarking platform bearing the model number Xiaomi 2510DPC44G.
At this stage, the Poco F8 Pro enjoys a circa 10% single-core advantage over its predecessor, which Xiaomi equips with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. However, this performance uplift exceeds 38% in multi-core work thanks to Qualcomm's Oryon Gen 2 GPU cores in the Snapdragon 8 Elite. It is worth noting that the Poco F8 Pro is currently slower than any Snapdragon 8 Elite-powered smartphone we have tested when it comes to single-core performance, with a minor shortfall to the Poco F7 Ultra, which averaged 2,309 in the same tests without its performance mode enabled.
Ultimately, we would chalk this up to the Poco F8 Pro running pre-release firmware that may not be as optimised as Xiaomi's release software. With that being said, the Poco F8 Pro achieves around 10% higher performance than Snapdragon 8 Elite-powered devices like the RedMagic Astra and Razr 60 Ultra in Geekbench's multi-core benchmark, even at this early stage. Likewise, the Poco F8 Pro outscores the Poco F7 Ultra and Oppo Find N5 by 4% and 3%, respectively. Presumably, this Geekbench appearance is the start of more substantial leaks before the Poco F8 Pro's launch early next year.
