It looks like an iPad Mini, feels like an iPad Mini, but costs significantly less. The 4:3 screen ratio can be a little wasteful for videos, but it's great for web pages and reading. Combined with a fantastic camera sensor and solid performance, the MiPad 3 is a solid purchase.

The Xiaomi Mi Pad 3 is a well-built, comfortable-to-hold iPad Mini knockoff that sells for under $260. In fact, while writing this, we found it at more than one outlet for less than $250, and, if it follows the general Android-tablet pricing trend, it won’t be too long before you’ll be able to find it for around $220, which is significantly less expensive than the current $399 iPad Mini 4 starting price.

It's nice to see another new Android tablet and although the Mi Pad 3 isn't majorly different from the previous model and is more expensive, it's still a decent compact device if you don't mind importing it to the UK.

Xiaomi Mi Pad 4
The Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 belongs to the Xiaomi Mi Pad series of affordable tablets that has always provided great value in terms of specifications and pricing. The Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 was launched in China in June as the latest iteration of the Mi Pad series with an 8-inch WUXGA (1920×1200) IPS display and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC. It can be an ideal device for all types of users including casual users, gamers or professionals. The Mi Pad 4 has been made for more convenient use with one hand. As a small-sized tablet, the Mi Pad 4 is obviously easier to control. The previous generation model comes with a 4:3 aspect ratio, while the new model uses a 16:10 aspect ratio, narrowing the width of four sides. That’s why the Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 becomes slenderer. The tablet is made out of a metal body and available in the two colors, which are Black and Rose-Gold. In addition, the screen share is 12.5 % higher than the 7.9-inch 4:3 Mi Pad 3’s. It is worth noting that our protagonist has been reduced to 1920 x 1200 in screen resolution. So, we have to state it is a step backwards in comparison to the Mi Pad 3’s 2048 x 1536 resolution. Of course, this also moderately relieves the pressure of processor rendering. At the same time, it is more power-efficient, and the pros and cons must be measured by users themselves. The Mi Pad 4 is featured with the 5.0 MP front camera and 13.0 MP rear camera let you capture memorable moments or chat with friends. But in the low light, it will not be able to capture good images. For the video calling, it is nice, and the picture from the rear camera is good. The tablet is equipped with the 8.0-inch FHD display with 2.048 x 1.536 resolution. The display supports multi touch up to 3 fingers. The IPS display provides better viewing angles. There is no screen protector on the display so if users need any kind of protection they have to do it themselves. The display is almost 72 % of the body. The tablet features a proximity sensor and a light sensor. With the latest MIUI 9.5, a user can turn on the Night Mode. There is also a reading mode as well for the best and optimal brightness for the reading. This time the Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 features the latest processor. It runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 octa-core processor. This octa-core processor clubbed with the 3 GB / 4 GB of RAM. Thanks to its Qualcomm Adreno 512 GPU users can easily watch movies in the HD resolution without any lagging. In addition to the hardware enhancement, the Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 comes with an optimized software. Moreover, it can be considered one of the most optimized Android tablets currently available on the market. First of all, users will notice the Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 cancelled the virtual buttons seen on the Mi Pad 3 and supports the latest MIUI gestures. Not only that, but the user can also call out the navigation ball at the edge of the screen at any time, which is an advantage. This is obviously necessary for a large-screen Xiaomi tablet. The Mi Pad 4 is a great budget tablet, with an attractive 8in design and some competitive hardware onboard. It ticks most of our boxes, though we fear some users may find the unfamiliar MIUI operating system and lack of Google Play out of the box confusing.

In the current Internet package, the Mi Pad 4 supporting 4G LTE is inevitably popular. And in terms of price, the 4GB+64GB LTE version is only 100 yuan ($15) more than the 4GB+64GB WiFi version, which is undoubtedly the most worthy version. Breaking the price of the product, maybe it can really activate the 4G-based tablet experience. Currently the all of Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 versions available on Geekbuying and below you will find purchasing links with coupon codes.

Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Plus
New year is coming and therefore you might be out looking for some presents, right? Whether it is for a small fella or a teenager or even for an adult. Tablets, smartphones with versatile options can be a good gift. Considering the majority of devices are becoming cheaper each day, they can make up for a good gift. I believe Xiaomi’s new Mi Pad 4 Plus is in this category. Let me start with the pricing. It starts from 270$ and can go up to 310$ or something close depending on the storage capacity. We all know that Apple is kinda dominating the area of tablets. But they are too pricey and in my humble opinion iPads are a bit overkill in terms of usability when you think about price/performance ratio. Then you end up with Android tablets (pls lets not talk about Windows tablets). Good thing about Android tablets is that there are various manufacturers and they provide different devices for different price categories. The Mi Pad 4 Plus is not something of a very high end device nor a low end one. Hardware wise you get what you pay for and actually it delivers. Whether it is for playing games or watching videos or basically surfing internet, it does the job. Is there areas where it could have been better? For sure. For instance the speakers. They are poor. But you can use headphones. Screen brightness is okay, compared to older devices from the series the new device uses a 16:10 format compared to 3:2. Gaming on this tablet is fine. But 10.1 inch size could be an issue for screen management. Other than that, I would suggest you not to expect much. Because it is a budget device, period. It can be considered as a gift just because of that and believe me it will make people happy. Nowadays an e-reader costs as much and their capabilities are limited. Well, of course it is not an e-reader, but hey it can do much more. Design is okay, hardware is fine, with something close to 0.5 kg it can be hold in hand for a bit of time without any issues. Cameras, well I wouldn't count on them much. On the other hand, my general opinion about Android tablets in general is that if you are looking for something lets say for media consumption, you don't have to go overboard and buy something really elegant as long as it is not necessary to do so. Because, first, they will get older and you won't be able to use them in lets say 2-3 years. Secondly, hardware is evolving and you may miss new stuff in the coming years. For that reason, the Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Plus is just that. Your daily mobile companion. It does what it has to, without any issues. The only thing? Well it needs to be imported and does not have a global ROM for now, but expected to arrive soon. Hands-on article by Ümit Yılmaz GüneşSpecifications

Imagination PowerVR GX6250: 2 cluster graphics chip integrated in ARM SoC (e.g. used in the MediaTek MT8173)
Qualcomm Adreno 512: Integrated graphics card based on the Adreno 500 architecture, like the Adreno 520 in the Snapdragon 820. According to Qualcomm up to 30% faster than the previous generation (Adreno 510?). Supports DirectX12, OpenCL 2.0, OpenGL ES 3.1 + AE.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.
Qualcomm Adreno 650: Graphics chip for smartphones and tablets that is integrated within the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC. Qualcomm claims that it is 25% faster than the Adreno 640 in the Snapdragon 855 SoC and offers 50% more compute units (ALUs). For Android it should be one of the fastest graphics cards in 2020.

Large smartphones and a few small tablets are available for this display size. Unlike most smartphones, you can see more on the screen, more details and use larger resolutions. Such formats are better for people with defective vision. However, such devices are no longer easy to fit in a pocket, and they are probably not quite light either.
