Reviews for the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro
The Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro, like its sister model Mi 9T, has a motorised pop-up front-facing camera to aid in the pursuit of the highest possible screen-to-body ratio. The device comes with a Snapdragon 855, 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of UFS 2.1 flash storage too, but Xiaomi has made cuts in some areas that hold it back from challenging the Mi 9. Read on to find out how the Mi 9T Pro, or should we say Redmi K20 Pro, performs in our tests and how it shapes up against the Mi 9.

Archive.org versionIt's quite simply bonkers this phone sells for the price it does, given its flagship specification, which makes for very fluid use and ensures no task will be a problem. The screen is decent, the cameras are pretty good too, while battery life lasts for a solid innings too. It's just the software quirks and some intermittent connectivity/Bluetooth/calls quality that hold it back a touch. But that's all forgivable given the price point.

Archive.org versionIf performance is everything, for a small amount of money over the standard Mi 9T you’ll get a Snapdragon 855 processor, the same which is found in top-end phones such as Xiaomi’s own Mi 9 and the OnePlus 7. There’s also a generous 4,000mAh battery.

Archive.org versionThe Mi 9T Pro doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the phones that cost twice as much - wireless charging is missing, for example, as is a water and dust resistance rating. But it does pack a 3.5mm headphone jack, support for 27W fast wired charging (although in the box you only get an 18W brick), and an almost bezel-less display with no notch or ugly cutout whatsoever. That is still rare in the mobile world, and while the selfie camera's moving parts may have some worried about longevity, we have to admit that the Mi 9T Pro looks like it's much more expensive than it actually is.

Archive.org versionWhile you might still have to pay top dollar to get the very best in smartphone technology from Apple, Samsung and Google, at less than half the price of the premium flagships, the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro is an excellent proposition at the moment. Perhaps its biggest worry will be the number of companies, like Huawei and OnePlus, trying the exact same approach.

Archive.org versionThe reason I’ve gone to the trouble of finding these discouraging small problems with the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro is that it’s so close to being a wonderful device. It’s powerful, it’s flashy, it’s well-built, it runs all the apps you know and love nicely, and it has just about the latest everything. No waterproofing and no wireless charging don’t seem like big omissions at a device half the price of flagships.

Archive.org versionBy combining flagship experiences with a mid-range price, the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro has fast become one of the most desirable phones money can buy. In a time of uncertainty – with questions surrounding Huawei phones and whether it's worth getting a 5G phone just yet – the Mi 9T Pro is the perfect stopgap device that feels and performs like a top-tier flagship, without a sky-high price.

The main camera is pretty decent, too. If performance and gaming isn’t your bag, save yourself some cash and opt for the standard Mi 9T.

Archive.org versionIf you’re looking for the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro for sale on the internet, take special care in making sure you’re not about to buy a Xiaomi Mi 9T (without the Pro). You still certainly CAN buy that phone if you want, but many sources (especially inside the USA) tend to redirect searches to the non-Pro version since the Pro version is not available inside the USA.

Archive.org versionThis is the closest thing you'll ever get to a Pocophone with Snapdragon 855. I highly recommend getting this phone as it provides the best value for money if you are looking for a smartphone with the best hardware. Software though... does need a bit more improvement.

Archive.org versionSo, just like the with our experience with the K20 Pro, we were satisfied with the Mi 9T Pro’s design, performance, display, cameras, and battery. It’s even better now since it has a Global ROM with Google Play services, is officially available in the Philippines, so there’s a local warranty, is now available in four colors, and still affordable.

Archive.org versionThere’s very little to complain about when it comes to the Mi 9T Pro; its killer design and screen are paired with excellent across-the-board specs. The fact it clings onto the headphone jack will please many, and while there’s no wireless charging, water resistance or stereo sound, given the phone’s price, you’re still getting excellent value across-the-board.

Archive.org versionXiaomi has beaten OnePlus at its own game with the Mi 9T Pro – and for £100 less than the OnePlus 7. While the Xiaomi lacks stereo speakers and packs a clunkier UI, it betters the OnePlus with a triple camera, headphone jack and a notch-free screen. If you’re looking for an affordable flagship and don’t need wireless charging or waterproofing, the Mi 9T Pro just leapfrogged to the front of our recommended list.

Archive.org versionThe verdict is in and quite expectedly the Redmi K20 Pro/Mi 9T Pro is guilty of being the best smartphone €400, or even €500, can buy you today. The phone has everything starting with a flagship looks, a premium notch-free OLED, the latest Snapdragon chip, then there is an enviable camera setup, and top-notch battery life. We just couldn't wish for more. Except, maybe for a microSD slot.

Model: The Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro is a flagship smartphone by Xiaomi. Its highlight appears to be the motorised pop-up front-facing camera. It is available in several color options, namely Carbon black, Red flame, Glacier Blue and White. The Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro measures at 156.70 x 74.30 x 8.80 mm and weighs 191.00 grams. The phone comes with a 6.39-inch AMOLED Full Screen Display with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,340 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The pixel density of 403 ppi is not low but is lower than most other flagships. The screen is protected by a durable, scratch resistant glass. The Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro is powered by a 2.84 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 octa-core processor and comes with 6 GB of RAM. This hardware specification ensures the phone runs smoothly under even the most memory intensive applications and shows no signs of lag. As for storage, it has 64 GB of UFS 2.1 flash storage. The smartphone can provide perfect gaming experience with the Game Turbo 2.0 mode, which provides higher sensitivity. The Mi 9T Pro features a triple rear camera: a 48 MP primary camera with Sony IMX586 0.8μm ƒ/1.75 aperture, 6P lens, 4-in-1 Super Pixel and 1/2” CMOS image sensor, a 8 MP telephoto camera with 1.12μm ƒ/2.4 aperture, and a 13 MP ultra-wide-angle lens with 124.8° wide-angle. On the front side, there is a 20 MP AI selfie pop up camera. The Mi 9T Pro's front camera went through the test of 3,000,000 times pop-up and downs. The 9T Pro supports Face Detection and high dynamic range (HDR) imaging as well.
The Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro runs MIUI based on Android 9 Pie. Providing power to the smartphone is a large 4000 mAh high density battery. The battery can be charged quickly with 27 W wired charging, It can be fully charged in 73 minutes and charged to 58 % in half an hour. Compared with the traditional 5th generation screen fingerprint technology on the market, the Mi 9T Pro is equipped with a 7th generation in-display fingerprint scanner. At the same time it optimizes the unlock algorithm, greatly improving the accuracy of screen fingerprint identification and unlock speed. Connectivity options on the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro are said to include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/No, GPS, Bluetooth v5.00, USB Type-C, 3G, and 4G (with support for Band 40 used by some LTE networks in India). Sensors on the phone are rumored to include an accelerometer, an ambient light sensor, a compass magnetometer, a gyroscope, a proximity sensor, and a fingerprint sensor. The Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro is a smartphone with high performance specifications and great camera. Compared to the predecessor, which is the Xiaomi Mi 9T, it features a bit more speed and endurance.
