Reviews for the Samsung Galaxy A90 5G
The Samsung Galaxy A90 5G's vision is making 5G-enabled smartphones cheaper. At an MSRP of 749 Euros (~$831), it is far from a budget smartphone, however. In our review, we determine whether or not the price is justified.

This isn't the only 5G phone on the market right now of course – it's not even the only Samsung 5G phone on the market – but if you're right in the middle of a city that already has coverage, the Samsung Galaxy A90 5G offers excellent value for money for taking advantage of those super-high speeds.

The Samsung Galaxy A90 5G is one of the most affordable 5G phones. It also has a decent amount of power, but its camera is enormously disappointing for the price, so only buy this if you value 5G over photography.

The Galaxy A90 5G is a very competent 5G phone that ticks all the right boxes when it comes to hardware and functionality. The design is a little bland, but it has all the graphical grunt you’ll need to play the most demanding games on Android and the screen remains one of the best you’ll find on a phone this price. The camera isn’t industry leading, but it’ll do the job for most people.

The Samsung Galaxy A90 5G is a real test for the appeal of 5G versus a world-class camera. And having tried 5G across London, we think there’s currently more fun to be had with a killer multi-lens snapper than (occasionally) faster mobile internet.

The Samsung Galaxy A90 5G is the Korean company's answer to two things: one, it wants to reassert itself as market leader in the mid-level/sub-flagship market, seeing away the mass of Chinese phones that have come into contention; two, it wants to wave the 5G flag, making the super-fast and low-latency connectivity accessible to a wider market. And you know what? It more-or-less succeeds on both counts.

The A90 5G feels like a flagship in most of the ways that matter - slick design, fast specs, and a whopping big display - and the omissions mostly make sense too - wireless charging, waterproofing, and curved edges are the sort of nice-to-haves that most can live without. If your priority is getting a 5G phone and you don’t mind a slightly limited camera, the A90 is a solid and affordable-ish option. But if you can live with 4G for another couple of years, you can find better phones for less from other manufacturers.

The Galaxy A90 5G is quite honestly a confusing device for us. From a business perspective, it makes perfect sense thanks to the impeccable battery life, 5G compatibility, stellar build quality and DeX is the icing on the cake. On the other hand, if you’re not fussed about getting your workforce equipped with 5G then there are other devices on the market that should be taken into consideration - the OnePlus 7T and iPhone 11 to name but a few. One thing is for certain, this is undoubtedly the budget 5G phone the market has been crying out for and it’s a device you should absolutely consider if 5G is your main priority.

It’s not exactly cheap, but if you want to jump on the 5G bandwagon with Samsung and aren’t willing to spend the big bucks on the Note 10 Plus then this could very well be the next best option.

Based on our first impressions, the Samsung Galaxy A90 5G is a lovely device and one we'd seriously recommend someone looking for a 5G smartphone consider. It offers a glorious screen (from what we've seen), a fabulous, solid design and it has all the power most people would want, coupled with 5G connectivity. It's an expensive device for the Galaxy A series, but the Galaxy A90 5G has the potential to be the 5G device for the masses.

As we already pointed out, Samsung isn't aiming at the premium-seeking users with the Galaxy A90 but instead, it tries to deliver a semi-flagship experience with 5G connectivity at a more reasonable price point, as far as 5G phones go. It's by far the cheapest 5G option out there and it's already out in Korea for roughly €685.

As one of the first affordable 5G phones out there, there's not much to compare the Samsung Galaxy A90 5G to, but its strong performance and display suggest it's not a far cry from premium status.

It is a small display format for smartphones. You shouldn't be severely defective in vision, and you won't see much detail on the screen and only have a small resolution available. For that, the device should be small and handy, easy to transport.

76.78%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
