Reviews for the ZTE Nubia Red Magic 3S

Nubia Red Magic 3S Audio review
Source: DxOMark English Archive.org version
The Red Magic 3S’s playback performance is dominated by the narrowness of its playback frequency response, which not only results in an overall smothered sound, but also strongly impairs dynamics and spatial performance. On the other hand, its stunning ability to control undesirable sounds, such as noise and distortion, has set a new record for our Playback Artifacts sub-score. However, its recording performance is among the poorest we have tested so far, due to numerous artifacts, very low loudness in every use case, and the impossibility of recording in stereo.

68% ZTE Nubia Red Magic 3S Review
Source: Think Digit English Archive.org version
With most things remaining the same with only the SoC and storage getting an upgrade, the Red Magic 3s is definitely faster but the experience remains largely the same. As far as gaming smartphones go, the experience is somewhat inferior to the ROG Phone II. Yes, the price too is slightly lesser, but a little more and you get a lot more features, more accessories and a far robust hardware-software integration. Having said that, the Red Magic 3s runs almost all games we threw at it at peak frame rates. Outside of gaming, the Red Magic 3s struggles a bit to get the daily tasks right and as a result, this may not be the perfect daily driver, despite being a good gaming device.

70% Red Magic 3S review: The fastest phone I've used, marred by big display issues [Update]
Source: Neowin English Archive.org version
The Red Magic 3S is a phone I’d love to recommend. The performance for a $480 phone is absolutely fantastic, stopping at nothing I threw at it. Add to that a 90Hz refresh rate, loud stereo speakers, a pretty good camera, long-lasting camera, and unique gaming-oriented features, it’s an overall fantastic package. It continues to be one of the phones that tempts me the most to buy it.

Nubia Red Magic 3S Review: Lots To Love, But With A Catch
Source: Lowyat.net English Archive.org version
The Nubia Red Magic 3S, then is an interesting gaming phone. The decked-out variant costs RM2899, which sounds reasonable for a phone with a Snapdragon 855 Plus. It’s good at what it does generally, and is surprisingly good as a camera phone. It also has a good enough battery life to last you a whole day of heavy use. With light use, expect to be able to use it for two days at least.

80% Nubia Red Magic 3S review: The best sub-$500 gaming phone you can buy in the U.S.
Source: Android Central English Archive.org version
Featuring a 90Hz display and Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 855+ chipset, the Red Magic 3S is a gaming powerhouse. The 5000mAh battery allows you to play all day, and the user interface is akin to pure Android and is free from bloatware. Combine all of that with the fact that it's just $479, and you're getting incredible value.

70% Nubia Red Magic 3s review: Good successor, but competition has gotten tougher
Source: The Indian Express English Archive.org version
The Nubia Red Magic 3s is a good mid-year refresh, but lacks that special wow factor. As of now, there is a lot of competition in this segment, all priced in a similar bracket. The Asus ROG Phone II is a prime example of a gaming phone, which stands out.

80% Red Magic 3S review
Source: Tech Advisor English Archive.org version
The Red Magic 3S builds on the success of its predecessor to provide an almost complete mobile gaming experience. If this is your first foray into the world of gaming phones, the high refresh rate display, front-facing stereo speakers and dedicated gaming mode are a delight to use. However, we’re disappointed with the lack of serious upgrades from the 3, particularly in retaining its chunky bezels and sub-par cameras. The 3S has ultimately fallen victim to Red Magic's very aggressive update cycle.

It all boils down to how much you need a gaming phone and how much you are willing to spend on one because the nubia Red Magic 3s lacks in important departments like the camera and market-ready software. Clearly, this phone has been made with gaming in mind,, and everything else comes second.

80% Nubia Red Magic 3S Review
Source: NDTV Gadgets English Archive.org version
The Nubia Red Magic 3S is completely gaming-focused and works well for that purpose. The 90Hz refresh rate on the HDR AMOLED panel facilitates smooth gameplay. This phone packs in the best possible hardware for gaming, along with dedicated shoulder buttons. The internal fan helps it run at a lower temperature. However, this phone does very little to stand out in other areas. The camera performance is below average when compared to other devices in this price range.

70% Nubia Red Magic 3S review: Power meets ease of gaming
Source: Gadgets Now English Archive.org version
The Nubia Red Magic 3S has certain advantages and disadvantages both when compared with the ROG Phone II but only a serious gamer would be that finicky about the details. We would like to conclude by saying that this is a powerful gaming device that can hold its own without the help of any accessories in long gaming sessions.

80% The Nubia Red Magic 3S is for the flamboyant gamer, never mind the camera
Source: Business Standard English Archive.org version
Nubia Red Magic 3S is delightfully designed and immensely powerful. The Red Magic 3S, at Rs 35,999, needs nothing more than some UI and camera upgrades to find a place among the best mid-level premium devices. But the gamer in you might not want to think so much.

Red Magic 3S review: The perfect gaming phone?
Source: Android Authority English Archive.org version
The Red Magic 3 is a great gaming phone and represents amazing value for the money. There are lots of good features, and if you don’t mind the mediocre camera then it is certainly worth considering. Of course, there are other gaming phones out there, including the Black Shark 2, the Asus ROG Phone 2, and the Razer Phone 2. But those physical buttons, the bigger screen, the active cooling, and the price, make the Red Magic 3S a worthy contender.

80% Nubia Red Magic 3S review: Brilliant gaming performance but pricey
Source: India Today English Archive.org version
The Nubia Red Magic 3S comes in as a brilliant mid-life update to the raw-in-nature Red Magic 3 from a few months ago. It's got a fast and unbeatable performance that gamers are always looking for. And, despite carrying forward the same design, it still looks interesting. And the cherry on top is the all-round refinement that Nubia has made to it as a premium smartphone, with the more fluid and fast stock Android interface. I feel that there's still more Nubia could do to refine the user experience further.

6.65":

It is a small display format for smartphones. You shouldn't be severely defective in vision, and you won't see much detail on the screen and only have a small resolution available. For that, the device should be small and handy, easy to transport.

ZTE:

ZTE is short for Zhong Xing Telecommunication Equipment Company Limited, which was founded in China in 1985 and is partly state-owned. ZTE's core business is wireless, optical transmission, data transmission equipment, telecommunications software and cell phones, USB sticks, routers and tablets.

78.5%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
