Reviews for the Xiaomi Poco X3 Pro
An excellent price-performance ratio - not only is this characteristic of Xiaomi's Redmi series, but it's even more so when it comes to the manufacturer's Poco smartphones. The Poco X3 Pro is no exception: For 250 Euros (~$305), you get a fast Snapdragon SoC, a 6.7-inch IPS display with 120 Hz, a quad camera, 6 GB of RAM, and 128 GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

The Poco X3 Pro is a lot of things, but it’s not an all-rounder. The focus here was clearly on performance, at the cost of everything else. If you need a lot of grunt in your daily use, the Poco X3 Pro is perhaps the best option in the category. However, for a more standard workload — think music streaming, taking photographs, or texting — a more well-rounded option like the Redmi Note 10 Pro would be a better bet for most. For that big-league chipset, Poco has sacrificed essentials like a superlative camera, a high-quality AMOLED display, and to a degree, the design. It’s not a bad phone, but rather a niche phone that’ll appeal to frugal gamers, or those who want to pack processing heat on a budget.

It is, overall, a good mid-range package, elevated to new heights by its standout performance. Not a one-trick pony per se, more like a pony with many decent tricks and one that's quite unexpected given its price. Hopefully that makes sense in pony-land; we confess we don't really know a lot about ponies. So if you need the most performance that you can get for a price around what the X3 Pro sells for, this is the one to get for sure. But if you value other things slightly more, then it simply can't deliver features that stand out as much as its speed. But that's the point, a cheap phone can't be all things to all people. For those who agree with what it has to offer, it's a great device that will not disappoint.

If all you care about is performance, the Poco X3 Pro is the most powerful phone in its segment — the Snapdragon 860 along with 8GB of DDR4x RAM and UFS 3.1 storage help clinch this title easily. The raw power of the phone makes it our go-to recommendation for anyone looking for a gaming phone on a budget. Features like a powerful stereo speaker setup, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a cooling system, and a high-refresh-rate display further improve the gaming experience. In this sense, the X3 Pro is very much the successor to the F1 that we’d all been waiting for. But just like the F1, this definitely isn’t the phone for everyone. The okayish display, the chunkiness, and the average camera performance take away some points. If these things matter to you, the Redmi Note 10 Pro (AKA the Note 10 Pro Max in India), the Moto G60, or the Realme 8 Pro may be far more suitable for you. But if power is all you’re hungry for, there’s enough for you to chew on here.

The fact that the new Poco X3 Pro goes for less than P13k is unbelievable. An upgraded version of 2020’s Poco X3 NFC, this device is packed with features that don’t fall short of performance. It’s made for multitaskers and gamers who don’t want to shell out big bucks on their day-to-day smartphone. Read on to know why.

POCO definitely strikes again, and our review of the X3 Pro in the Philippines shows that it is hard to question its raw processor performance at an under-Php 13k price point. Despite looking very similar to the vanilla X3 and having a slightly downgraded rear camera setup, the Snapdragon 860’s performance chops—paired with UFS 3.1 storage—make it an ideal phone for serious gaming. The X3 Pro’s thermals may not be ideal for long gameplay sessions (especially when you are pushing the internals to the limit), but that can be remedied by using a phone cooler.

Priced Rs 19,999 onwards, the Poco X3 Pro is a performance-centric smartphone good for everyday use, gaming and productivity work. The phone’s cameras have nothing to write home about, especially if you compare it with all-round or camera-centric smartphones. However, they are competent and one of the best available in budget and midrange performance-centric smartphones. That said, consider the Poco X3 Pro primarily for its performance because that is where it shines the brightest. Otherwise, there are better smartphones to consider, such as the Redmi Note 10 Pro Max (review), Samsung Galaxy A52 (review), etc.

Poco clearly had one goal in mind for the X3 Pro, and that was to deliver the best possible CPU performance at around the Rs. 20,000 price level. Arguably, it has succeeded. This is a phone that will do very well for gaming and will feel snappy and responsive for the foreseeable future. If you want a device that feels premium but don't want to spend too much, this could be a compelling option. There are also other positives – the IP53 rating and stereo speakers are both nice to have, and if you're looking for bold design, you'll get it.

The Poco X3 NFC is arguably a better-balanced phone than the X3 Pro. Camera quality counts for a lot, but this is yet another demonstration of the sheer value you get with a Poco-series Android.

POCO X3 Pro is a great budget gaming phone that gets you flagship-like performance, good cameras, a huge battery, and a slightly refreshed design. The huge catch is that you need to get it during sale periods since the suggested retail prices almost veer toward the POCO F2 Pro and POCO F3.

The Poco X3 Pro promises flagship-grade performance at a competitive price. While it largely delivers on that claim by packing in Qualcomm's Snapdragon 860 chip, its sustained performance (or lack of it) leaves a lot to be desired. The phone's LCD screen is no match for OLED panels found on competing handsets, and the 120 Hz refresh rate implementation is a bit buggy. Another let-down is Poco's lack of regard for ergonomics as well as aesthetics. As much I'm delighted to see a high-end processor at this price point, I can't help but notice that the rest of the phone doesn't match. It’s like you spent so much money on acquiring a Ferrari engine, the only base you can now afford for your project car is a Maruti Omni.

The Poco X3 Pro isn’t a disruptor as the Poco F1. But, it nails the value for money aspect, offering a top-level performance at a very aggressive price point. You also get more than a day’s battery life, a good 120Hz LCD panel, stereo speakers, IP53 rating and 33W fast charging. All this makes the Poco X3 Pro an excellent buy for gamers around Rs 20,000.

In terms of performance, the X3 Pro is as good as anything we've tested in this price range, if not better. The phone might not win any design awards but it's more than capable on the hardware front. The screen is a large one and the high refresh and touch sampling rates make gaming and scrolling more enjoyable. There's a generous amount of (expandable) storage, a capacious battery, and an intuitive software experience. Toss in a couple of decent cameras and you're hard-pressed to demand more.

The Poco X3 Pro is the first phone in the country to come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 860 processor. The processor makes the phone easily the best gaming device in its segment and gives it a massive edge in performance terms over the competition. Yes, it looks like the Poco X3, but beneath the familiar surface is the soul of the Poco F1 - a flagship-level processor.

The Poco X3 Pro gets a lot right for its price. Recall what we said about making the right compromises. It is a device meant for gamers and power users on a budget and any aspect of the phone that would affect your gaming is not compromised. A fast chip, a great GPU, stereo speakers, headphone port, UFS 3.1 storage, the phone has it all. Even in other areas like the camera or battery life, the Poco X3 Pro performs above average in its segment. A few things could have been improved with the phone. A glass back would have reduced vibrations on the back, and the higher-end 8GB RAM variant could have bagged 256GB storage. Picking an older chipset also means you lose 5G support for when it arrives in India. However, for those not concerned with future-proofing their phone for years to come, you get a great deal with solid hardware components here, making this phone an easy recommendation.

The POCO X3 Pro starts at Rs 18,999 in India and for the price, is the fastest Android smartphone one can buy under Rs 20K. Consequently, if you prioritise your next phone’s processor over everything else, look no further than the POCO X3 Pro – the smartphone will play most current-gen games at the highest preset and should last you a good few years too. That being said, the POCO X3 Pro has a tunnel vision in all matters of performance and correspondingly, might disappoint some buyers in the camera and design department. Consequently, if you’re okay with not playing games at the best graphics preset, you can pick up more well-rounded offerings like the Redmi Note 10 Pro Max (review).

The Poco X3 Pro runs on MIUI 12 based on Android 11 out of the box. I noticed a few preloaded apps which can be uninstalled if you do not use them. In the Settings, you can choose whether you want to press the power button to unlock the phone with your fingerprint, or whether just a feather touch should do it. There's also face recognition.

The POCO X3 Pro is not perfect as it has its downs here and there. Despite that, for the price of RM999, it is actually a decent smartphone if you’re upgrading from an entry-level or mid-range device as it comes with a host of nifty features and packs quite a bit of power.

This phone is all about going big. It's got a big screen, big battery, and a low price point to give big appeal. But in some regards it's a bit too big for its own boots. The software doesn't quite connect - we've had notification problems which irk - while the sheer physical size and weight of this device mean other devices may hold greater appeal.

The Poco X3 Pro is a very capable cheap phone that should be a hit among gamers on a budget, thanks to its punchy processor and strong screen. The camera doesn't reach quite the same giddy heights, but overall it's a very tempting package if you're on a £200 price limit.
