The Xiaomi Mi 11 and Redmi K40 Pro have appeared in a benchmark comparison video together. AnTuTu was the synthetic benchmark of choice, with both the Mi 11 and K40 Pro producing very strong results with the help of their Snapdragon 888 processors. However, there was an outright winner between the two despite the similar components.

The Xiaomi Mi 11 is a terrific smartphone with top-end components ideal for AnTuTu benchmarking: Snapdragon 888, Adreno 660 GPU, AMOLED 120 Hz screen, UFS 3.1 storage, and LPDDR5 memory. These all combine to throw up high scores on the popular smartphone benchmark, with the Mi 11 featuring on the current ranking chart in second place in its 12 GB + 256 GB configuration. The price for the Xiaomi Mi 11 in China, for the 8 GB + 128 GB variant, is 3,999 yuan (US$617).

In the video clip below, the Mi 11 is pitted against the brand-new Redmi K40 Pro, which is also powered by the SD 888, so therefore it also has the same GPU ready to take on the graphics portion of the benchmark. Presumably the tester used an identical RAM + storage configuration, with the K40 Pro also able to utilize UFS 3.1 and LPDDR5. The 8 GB + 128 GB version of the Redmi K40 Pro is priced at 2,999 yuan (US$463).

Even though it looks for a while that the more-expensive Mi 11 will dominate the Redmi K40 Pro, the result actually reveals what a price-performance beast the latter smartphone is. The only sub-test that the Xiaomi flagship wins is the memory test, and while the AI result is not too dissimilar, the CPU and especially the GPU scores are remarkably different. The Xiaomi Mi 11 ends up with a very high 685,491 points but is surprisingly outscored by the K40 Pro on a massive 717,862 points.

Whether the K40 Pro can simply utilize the Adreno 660 better, or heat was affecting the Mi 11’s performance, or there was a difference with the software versions, shouldn’t cloud the fact that the Redmi K40 Pro, which is 1,000 yuan (US$154) cheaper in the 8 GB + 128 GB variant, can defeat the Mi 11 by quite a margin. Of course, the Xiaomi Mi 11 offers more in the camera department, has faster charging, and a higher display resolution to justify the higher price, but for those who just want speedy CPU/GPU performance at an attractive price, the Redmi K40 is definitely the smartphone to buy here.
