Xiaomi 14 Ultra camera housing shows itself with camera hardware upgrades detailed over Xiaomi 13 Ultra
New camera details relating to Xiaomi's next flagship smartphone have appeared online. To recap, barely any time has passed since Kartikey Singh revealed Xiaomi 14 Ultra specifications, which include the Sony LYT-900 as its primary camera sensor. For reference, Sony's latest 50 MP sensor is already available in the Find X7 Ultra, albeit only in China for the time being.
Now, the likes of WHYLAB have obtained what appears to be the top cover of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra's rear camera housing. Sporting the same circular finish as the Xiaomi 13 Ultra's, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra has an almost unchanged camera sensor placement. Thus, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra should match the Galaxy S24 Ultra and its predecessor with a pair of telephoto cameras, plus primary and ultra-wide-angle sensors.
However, lettering printing on the camera cover indicates major camera hardware differences between the Xiaomi 13 Ultra and its successor. On the one hand, the lettering suggests that the Xiaomi 14 Ultra's primary camera has an f/1.63 aperture, down from f/1.8 in the Xiaomi 13 Ultra. In other words, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra may be capable of capturing up to 30% more light through its primary camera than its predecessor can.
On the other hand, one of its telephoto cameras is listed as having an f/2.5 aperture. If that Xiaomi 13 Ultra is anything to go by, this would be an updated 5x camera, which has an f/3.0 aperture. In short, this would represent a 45% light capture improvement, which should improve fine detail and low light clarity. Other details remain unknown for now, although the same camera cover outlines that the Xiaomi 14 Ultra will maintain its predecessor's 12 mm to 120 mm equivalent focal lengths.
