Xiaomi 14 series became the first lineup of commercial phones to pack the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, and it seems Xiaomi wants to keep the streak going. According to Digital Chat Station, known for offering reliable inside information, the internal testing of the Xiaomi 15 series with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is progressing well.
The tipster shared that the fully self-developed architecture of Qualcomm, which involves the Nuvia cores, has also showcased a good degree of performance enhancements. With this, the Xiaomi 15 series packing the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is expected to enter mass production phase in September.
Previous reports from the tipster shed light on the screens that the Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro are expected to come with. The tipster said that the standard model will retain a flat display and have the same screen size as its Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 13 predecessors. As for the 15 Pro, it is said to feature a slightly curved 2K display with 0.6 mm narrow bezels.
Getting back to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, previous reports suggested Qualcomm codenamed it “SUN,” and will be produced on TSMC’s N3E process. It will equip the new self-developed Nuvia cores and is expected to be 40% faster than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Early Geekbench scores of the engineering model are 2070 in single-core and 9100 in multi-core. To compare, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 scores an average of 2255 in single-core and 7110 in multi-core on the Geekbench 6.2.
