Volkswagen ID. Buzz European prices and first pre-order date are revealed
Following months of anticipation, Volkswagen has released pre-sale and price information for the inaugural all-electric version of its classic bus, the ID. Buzz. The vehicle has been extensively styled and designed to drive its maker's ACCELERATE strategy to make it as tech-heavy and carbon neutral as possible, not to mention its up-to-up to 421 kilometer (km, or 424km in the Buzz Cargo) range, powered by a 150kW motor.
Now, the company has finally announced that pre-orders for the e-bus will begin on May 20, 2022 in Germany and other European countries. The marque has also finally revealed that it will start at €54,430.60 (~US$57,123) for the Buzz Cargo and at €64,581.30 (~$67,769) for its initial Pro variant.
Then again, theses "gross list" prices apply to the German market only, and may vary based on location, not to mention the configuration and extras selected. The company does at least point out that e-vehicle grants and rebates may apply in many jurisdictions; for example, Germany's eco-incentive currently goes up to €7,500 (~$7,680 .
Volkswagen has also confirmed that the Buzz' full suite of ID. software will be available in each e-bus on its delivery. They include AI-powered features such as Lane Assist and Autonomous Emergency Braking Front Assist with Pedestrian and Cyclist Monitoring, which come as standard in the Buzz Pro, as does the people-carrier's 10-inch display for its infotainment UI and 77 kWh battery.
