MediaTek has now confirmed that it will officially present its flagship chipset for the year, the Dimensity 9500, on September 22. That corroborates earlier rumors on the matter and ensures that the MediaTek SoC debuts right before Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
While the Dimensity 9500 will debut this month, the first smartphones with that chipset will not launch till October, leaving the September-bound Xiaomi 17 series as the first next-gen Android flagship phones. As revealed by Digital Chat Station, the Vivo X300 series will be the first devices to adopt MediaTek's Dimensity 9500, and will debut in China on October 13.
Vivo has also confirmed that it will be adopting the MediaTek chipset on the Vivo X300, along with an improved NPU, and the self-developed Blueprint V3+ imaging chip incorporated into the Dimensity 9500, allowing the flagship phones to shoot 4K 60FPS portrait video—allegedly for the fist time ever on a smartphone.
Oppo's Find X9 series will follow right after the Vivo X300 as the second set of devices powered by the Dimensity 9500. The Find X9 and Find X9 Pro are "tentatively scheduled" to launch on or around October 16, and that looks increasingly plausible considering recent benchmark sightings of the Find X9 Pro.
