Recent leaks reveal that Valve has started stockpiling both pre-made components and tooling to build its upcoming Deckard VR headsets in the US.

Not too long ago, leaks revealed pricing, specifications, and prospective launch information for Valve's next-generation VR headset, aka. Deckard. A recent post by known industry insider, @SadlyItsBradley, on X revealed that Valve was seemingly importing machinery and hardware to the US to be able to manufacture the upcoming Deckard VR headset on US soil.

The leaked shipping manifests indicate that Valve has started importing what appears to be modified injection moulding machinery to manufacture facial interfaces for the Deckard headset. There is speculation that this move by Valve is in order to pre-emptively avoid potential US tariffs placed on imports from manufacturing giants like China, however it could also simply be Valve kitting out a small production facility to more easily do prototyping and short trial production runs.

Valve has also received a number of shipments of VR face gaskets from the same OEM — Teleray Group — a known OEM for both the Valve Index and other VR headsets already on the market. This supports the idea that Valve is either performing manufacturing validation for future scale production or iterating on the hardware design and materials for the headset gaskets for the same purpose.

While this doesn't necessarily give us a lot of information to go on in terms of an exact release date, it is an indication that Valve Deckard may be just around the corner. Valve was also spotted adapting SteamOS to run on Arm hardware, which again suggests that the gaming giant is lining up to launch Deckard in the coming months.
