Deal | Under $8: Fantasy-themed strategy RPG reaches new all-time low on Steam

Brigandine The Legend of Runersia takes place on the magical continent of Runersia, where six nations fight for control. At the center of the conflict are five legendary mana stones embedded in mystical Brigandines – from which the game takes its name. Players choose one of the six realms and set out to conquer every opposing stronghold on the continent. Each faction has its own ruler, unique Rune Knights, and a distinct political situation at the start of the campaign.
In terms of gameplay, The Legend of Runersia blends strategic planning on the world map with turn-based hex battles. Each campaign unfolds in clearly defined stages. During the organization phase, players assemble knights and monster units, assign equipment, and send troops on quests. Mana serves as the key resource. The attack phase then shifts the focus to tactical combat. Each army is led by a ruler and supported by several Rune Knights, each of whom can command up to six monsters. With more than 100 knights, over 50 monster types, and a wide range of equipment and class options, the game offers extensive build variety tailored to different play styles.
The German gaming website 4Players awarded the game a solid 8 out of 10. The reviewers praised its tactically demanding hex battles, deep army management, and distinct factions. The quest system and overall scope also received positive remarks. Criticism centered on the relatively modest presentation. Story scenes are conveyed through static dialogue images, and the title does not feature animated cutscenes.
On Metacritic, The Legend of Runersia holds a Metascore of 76, while the User Score sits slightly higher at 8.3. Feedback on Steam is even more positive, with 86% of over 1,200 reviews recommending the game. On the Steam Deck (currently available on Amazon for around $650), the title is listed as “Playable” and runs largely without issues.
