Miyoo might be developing a new clamshell handheld with some interesting design choices. Leaked renders show the handheld not only has a removable battery, but also borrows some features from the TrimUI Brick.

TrimUI is reportedly developing a clamshell foldable in the style of the Retroid Pocket Flip 2. Now, CAD renders of another clamshell have appeared on the internet, and while this handheld is reported to be designed by Miyoo, there are aspects of its design that seem to have been copied from TrimUI.

The images show the handheld will have a form factor similar to the Game Boy Advance SP. As expected, the handheld has a D-Pad, ABXY buttons, and two pill-shaped buttons above the D-Pad which seem to be the Start and Select buttons. However, there are also three round buttons, flanked on each side by a speaker grille.

The Miyoo clamshell handheld has a TF card slot on each side.

The placement of these buttons is often associated with TrimUI handhelds, but the markings on the buttons are different. While TrimUI uses its three round buttons for Options, Start, and Select, the buttons on this handheld have circle, square, and triangle markings, and their functions are currently unknown.

The TrimUI similarities don't stop there as there is a textured toggle switch right above the power button on the right side of the device. This is similar to the switch on the side of the TrimUI Brick (available on Amazon for $79.99).

The images also show that the handheld has two LEDs at the top right corner just like the Miyoo Mini Flip. Other features of the clamshell device include in-line shoulder buttons, an audio jack, two USB ports, two TF card slots, and two tiny buttons in between the audio jack and USB-C port at the bottom. Another interesting feature of the handheld is that it has a removable battery door, which is unusual for handhelds.

Unfortunately, there is no info on the development of the device, so it is impossible to say if this is just a concept or if it is in active development.
