UBports 24.04-1.3 improves the handling of desktop apps

On the path to Ubuntu Touch 24.04-2.0, the UBports project keeps the flame alive with 24.04-1.3, which represents a new maintenance release for the 24.04-1.x series. Although it's mostly about small under-the-hood changes, UBports/Ubuntu Touch 24.04-1.3 is an update that all users should install as soon as possible to keep their devices secure and snappy.
The list of changes worth mentioning includes the following:
- Improved handling of desktop apps, for example, launching X11 apps outside of Lomiri and fixes for the launch of GTK4 apps and dangling placeholder windows/launcher entries when launching X11 apps.
- Better handling of docks with input devices such as NexDock.
- The shutdown hanging bug that occurred on some devices has been ironed out.
- Fixed playing back AMR voice message sent via MMS.
- Fixed scaling factor being slightly off in certain applications, particularly in apps with embedded webview or Qt auto scaling.
The release notes also mention Ubuntu Touch 24.04-2.0, which promises to come up with an updated web browser experience.
The list of supported devices includes the Fairphone 3, 3+, 4 and 5, OnePlus Nord N10 5G (currently just $85 on Amazon, 6/128 GB, renewed US version, but excellent as a testing/secondary device to put Linux on), several Xiaomi handsets, some Volla devices, including the Volla Tablet, and others.
