IFA 2018 | Toshiba Portege X30T detachable coming with Kaby Lake-R and an integrated VGA port
Toshiba announced earlier this year that it would be cutting back on its family of consumer laptops to refocus on its more profitable flagship business-centric products. As a result, the Qosmio series is all but dead and both the budget Tecra and mid-range Satellite families have been scaled back significantly. The higher-end Portege family, however, continues to be updated with refreshed models every year. The Japanese OEM showed off its latest Portege offering at IFA 2018 that packs in a long list of features to appeal to professional users.
Called the Portege X30T, the 13.3-inch system is essentially the detachable version of the existing Portege X30 laptop. It will carry Intel 8th gen U-class CPUs such as the Core i7-8550U alongside an uncommon matte touchscreen for improved outdoor visibility. Even a VGA port is included to make the detachable one of the very few Windows laptops to ship with both the legacy port and a modern Kaby Lake-R CPU.
The Toshiba Portege X30T will begin shipping this October for a starting price of $1550 USD or a few hundred dollars more than the Surface Pro. The manufacturer includes a three-year limited warranty as standard with every new purchase.
