The popular Ideapad 720S is returning this year as the Yoga S730 complete with a newer, thinner design and Intel Whiskey Lake CPUs.
Lenovo is only showing off the 13-inch Yoga S730 for now whereas the Ideapad 720S has been available in 13-inch, 14-inch, and 15-inch SKUs. Visually, the backlit chiclet keyboard, trackpad, and fingerprint reader all remain identical to the last generation model. The thinner design, however, means that the S730 will be dropping the USB Type-A ports in return for dual Thunderbolt 3 ports. The system will integrate both Cortana and Alexa far-field voice recognition with improved internal cooling over the Ideapad 720S.
The Whiskey Lake configurations will launch this November for a starting price of $1000 USD. Unfortunately, Lenovo has nothing to announce as of IFA 2018 regarding any AMD Ryzen options. The Yoga S730 is a no-frills traditional subnotebook in the same vein as the narrow-bezel Dell XPS 13, HP Spectre 13, or Asus Zenbook UX390.
