The Satechi CubeDock is primarily designed for MacBook Pro and Mac mini users, the latter currently starts at $539 on Amazon. The aluminum chassis pretty much copies the shape, color, and dimensions of Apple’s mini PC in order to blend in as seamlessly as possible.
The docking station connects via Thunderbolt 5 with a bandwidth of 120Gbps and can charge laptops through the same cable with up to 140 watts. The dock is also compatible with Macs that only support Thunderbolt 4, although with reduced performance. On the front of the dock, there is a USB-C port that can charge devices with up to 30 watts and transfer data at 10Gbps. In addition, the front sports a 3.5mm headphone jack, one USB-A port and an SD and microSD card reader.
Meanwhile, the rear offers a total of four Thunderbolt 5 ports, one of which is used to connect to the computer. It also includes 2.5Gbps Ethernet, one USB-C port and one USB-A port, each with a bandwidth of 10Gbps, as well as a barrel connector for the included 180 watt power supply. The dock further supports up to three 8K monitors. The underside contains an M.2-2280 slot that can accommodate a PCIe 4.0 x4 SSD with a maximum capacity of 8TB and speeds of up to 6000 MB/s.
