To mark the 40th anniversary of the retro classic Tetris, owners of a Nintendo Switch (available on Amazon for $250) can look forward to a new game collection including a completely new Tetris game. A special treat for retro fans is the new edition of DRAGON QUEST III. For those less familiar with retro titles, LEGO Horizon Adventures might catch your eye - a reimagining of the post-apocalyptic action RPG Horizon Zero Dawn in classic LEGO style. Here’s a preview of the three exciting new releases coming up this week.
Tetris Forever
It’s been 40 years since the first Tetris cartridges hit Game Boy shelves, laying the foundation for a new era in gaming. Nintendo is celebrating with Tetris Forever - a collection of over 15 classic Tetris games and a brand new version of the retro classic: Tetris Time Warp
In Tetris Time Warp, you begin with a modernized version of the classic Tetris game. After the first level-up, a time warp rewinds the calendar, taking players back to an older version of the game, where they have 20 seconds to tackle a unique challenge. Here’s the twist: the game supports up to four players, and once a time-warp challenge is completed, time rewinds for opponents as well. They must conquer the same challenge before they can re-enter the main game.
Tetris Forever is set for release on November 12 at a price of approximately $35. However, a 15 percent discount will be available until launch day, bringing the price down to around $30. If you want to secure the discount, you can already pre-order the Tetris collection at Nintendo eShop right now.
DRAGON QUEST III HD-2D Remake
DRAGON QUEST III: The Seeds of Salvation was first released in Japan in February 1988 for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). It was the third installment in the successful DRAGON QUEST series, developed by Enix (now Square Enix). More than 35 years later, the game is now being remade for the Nintendo Switch. The remake combines the nostalgic gameplay and captivating story of the original with new HD 2D graphics. For the first time, Dragon Quest now shines in detailed pixel art graphics with modern 3D effects.
DRAGON QUEST III HD-2D should be of particular interest to nostalgics. However, the remake also gives newcomers a good opportunity to get to know this legendary JRPG. From November 14, the game will be available for around $60 in the Nintendo eShop.
LEGO Horizon Adventures
LEGO Horizon Adventures is an open-world action game that reimagines the world of Horizon Zero Dawn in a humorous LEGO look. Players step into the role of the hunter Aloy, battling mechanical creatures in a vast, post-apocalyptic world that invites endless exploration. The expansive open world features both main and side missions, offering a range of challenges- from intense machine battles and intricate puzzles to building and customizing the village of Mother Heart. The game includes both online and local co-op modes, allowing you to experience the entire adventure with one other player.
The new Lego adventure will be released on November 14 and comes in two versions, a standard version for $60 and a deluxe edition for $70, which includes a rollercoaster customization and six different outfits in addition to the main game.
