The ThinkPad X1 Yoga G6 has arrived: Better than the X1 Titanium Yoga?!

The brand-new ThinkPad X1 Yoga G6 has arrived in our editorial office and it is immediately noticeable that it is better than the more expensive ThinkPad x1 Titanium Yoga in pretty much every way.

The eagerly awaited redesign of the ThinkPad X1 Yoga has finally arrived. Lenovo not only equipped the 6th generation of its business convertible with a completely new chassis, but also implemented a 16:10 panel for the first time after multiple years. The touchscreen is another surprise, because it has a matte surface, which is a big advantage in bright environments and of course outdoors.

Our test unit is a campus version for 1850 Euros (20Y0S00200) with 32 GB RAM, a 1 TB PCIe 4.0 SSD and a Tiger Lake i7 processor. After our initial tests, we can already say that our impression is much better compared to the recently reviewed ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga. You get better components, much more ports (and they are also faster), and the keyboard is better as well. Lenovo also implemented a better sound system with four speakers and the stamina seems to be better as well after the first test.

Looking at the screen, the X1 Titanium has the advantage of the 3:2 aspect ratio, which offers more vertical space. However, the new 16:10 panel of the X1 Yoga G6 is a big improvement and then there is the advantage of the matte capacitive touchscreen. The subjective picture impression is still very good, and even bright surfaces do not suffer from a grainy picture.

The ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga is little more than 3 mm thinner and about 200 grams lighter. However, as we have found out in our comprehensive review, this results in some compromises. The new X1 Yoga G6 is hardly a bulky monster, it is actually also very slim at just 15 mm and not too heavy, either. You will hardly notice the difference in your everyday usage, but you will notice the advantages of the thicker case.

First Impression: The ThinkPad X1 Yoga G6 is Lenovo's real flagship convertible

We are currently performing all our benchmarks and measurements, but the new X1 Yoga G6 already leaves a very good impression and there are big advantages over the more expensive X1 Titanium Yoga. The first measurement results are also very promising.

We will publish the full review of the X1 Yoga G6 next week. Please leave us a comment if you have any questions or ideas, and we will try to cover it in our review.
