ThinkPad X1 Yoga & X1 Carbon 2021 leak: Renders supposedly show the new ThinkPad flagships with 16:10 screens
Autumn has just begun in the northern hemisphere and and Christmas is still more than two months away, but the first 2021 Lenovo ThinkPads may have already been leaked.
Through the Chinese site Baidu, a user there claims to be in the know about the next gen ThinkPads. To prove it, he posted three rendered pictures: One shows the keyboard area of the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 9, the other two contain the first look we get of the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 6.
Of course, we have to be careful: Since there is no way to verify this, it has to be taken with a large grain of salt. If the pictures are accurate though, they would reveal a few things about the upcoming Lenovo ThinkPad flagships.
Probably the most important point: Both appear to feature 16:10 aspect ratio screens, just like the recently announced Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Nano. Furthermore, Lenovo seems to change the hinge design to a wider bar-hinge and the speakers of the X1 Carbon 2021 seem to be positioned to the left and right of the keyboard. On the ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 8, they were placed above it.
On the other hand, the X1 Yoga 2021 seemingly still at least one legacy USB A port - a news that might certainly mend the fears that Lenovo would shift all X1 ThinkPads to a purely USB C based port selection, like with the ThinkPad X1 Nano.
The user even claims to know the time-frame for the release of the new 2021 ThinkPads: Both would hit the market in February according to him.
