The Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 alternative: Alldocube iPlay 40H 10.4 tablet review
Whereas the cheaper Alldocube iPlay 20 utilizes a 16:10 10.1-inch touchscreen, the Alldocube iPlay 40H has a 5:3 10.4-inch touchscreen instead. The iPlay 40 ships with a faster Unisoc processor as well to justify its higher price. It is still a budget tablet nonetheless at just under $190 USD despite the higher specifications.
The iPlay 40H competes directly with other inexpensive 10-inch tablets like the Teclast T40 Plus, MatePad 11, Medion LifeTab, or the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7.
Amazon is currently shipping the iPlay 40H here.

Case
Build quality is strong for an inexpensive tablet. Attempting to twist the unit with moderate force results in only very minor flexing and creaking for good first impressions. Overall dimensions and weight are quite close to the Teclast T40 Plus.
The positioning of the four speaker grilles is not optimal. Holding the tablet in landscape mode will always block at least one set of grilles to impact the audio experience.
Connectivity
There is only one USB-C port on the unit with nothing else. There isn't even a 3.5 mm audio jack meaning users will need to invest in Bluetooth headsets instead. The USB-C port is only for charging and data as it is not compatible with external monitors.
Communication
Webcam
Display
Though contrast ratio is pretty good for a cheap tablet at ~1000:1, color accuracy is quite poor. Average grayscale and color deltaE values sit at 7.7 and 5.81, respectively, due in large part to the overly cool color temperature of the display. Ghosting is also noticeable due to the slow black-white and gray-gray response times.

Verdict
We only expect the basics from any inexpensive tablet like the Alldocube iPlay 40H. Reliable touchscreen, reasonably bright display, adequate performance, and decent build quality shouldn't be too much to ask for regardless of price. In this case, the iPlay 40H checks all four boxes to be a straightforward Android tablet without any sly cut corners or headaches.
The drawbacks are numerous but not wholly unpredictable. The inaccurate colors and noticeable ghosting, for example, are several steps below what you'll find on a more expensive Galaxy Tab S series or iPad. We're hoping to see potential future models carry 1080p AMOLED options or at least IPS touchscreens with faster native refresh rates as such panels are becoming more common and more affordable.
