The Alldocube iPlay 70 mini Ultra aims to be a compact tablet that also meets the needs of gamers, but in our review it proved to be more of a good all-rounder at an attractive price, although there are some compromises.

The Alldocube iPlay 70 mini Ultra is a compact Android tablet with an 8.8-inch LTPS display that offers a sharp and colour-intensive display quality. It is powered by a Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 processor and has 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage, which can be expanded via microSD card.

The case is made of a dark grey aluminium unibody, which keeps it fairly light at 335 grams. With a display-to-surface ratio of 83 percent, the front looks modern and the workmanship gives a high-quality impression. However, under heavy pressure, waves may form on the display. In terms of connectivity, the tablet offers USB 3.2 (Gen. 1) with support for wired image output. A powerful, although somewhat imprecise, vibration motor is integrated; biometric unlocking methods are not available.

On the software side, the device runs Android 14 and its own user interface, Alldocube OS 3.0L. The manufacturer does not provide any specific information about updates, but the energy label indicates five years of support, probably without any major version jumps.

The front camera is only suitable for simple video calls in Full HD and does not deliver particularly detailed or bright images. The main camera is usable for documentation purposes in good lighting conditions, but is very noisy in poor lighting conditions; it can record videos in Ultra HD. The camera app offers only a few settings, some of which are poorly translated.

The display impresses with a sharp image and high contrast, even if the black level is slightly elevated. The brightness is sufficient for indoor use and shaded outdoor areas, but the minimum brightness could be lower. Colours appear cool and highly saturated, but this is rarely a problem in everyday use.

The tablet is currently available for around $350 at Amazon (buy here).
