The Redmi K30 Ultra redefines value for money with a MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ and 120 Hz AMOLED display for just US$290
Alongside the Mi 10 Ultra, Xiaomi has also unveiled the Redmi K30 Ultra in China. While the Mi 10 Ultra represents Xiaomi's best attempt yet at delivering a mass-production flagship phone, the Redmi K30 Ultra is more of a callback to the company's roots of providing excellent value for the average buyer.
The Redmi K30 Ultra sports a 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED display. Unlike the Redmi K30 Pro, this one is a 120 Hz panel, with 240 Hz touch sampling. Under the hood is the MediaTek Dimensity 1000+.
While the Dimensity 1000+ can't quite keep up with the Snapdragon 865 on the Mi 10 Ultra, it competes adequately with last year's Snapdragon 855. There should be no doubt that it's a premium SoC. Storage maxes out at 512 GB, while RAM goes up to 8 GB.
At the rear of the Redmi K30 Ultra is a 64 MP main camera, a 13 MP ultra-wide-angle shooter, a macro lens, and a depth sensor. At the front is a 20 MP selfie camera housed within a pop-up mechanism. Power is supplied by a 4500 mAh battery, with 33 W fast-charging to keep plug-in times down. Stereo speakers complete the package, but it's important to note that the 3.5mm headphone jack is missing.
The Redmi K30 Ultra goes on sale in China on August 14. Pricing is as follows:
- 6/128GB: CNY 1999 ($290)
- 8/128GB: CNY 2199 ($315)
- 8/256GB: CNY 2499 ($360)
- 8/512GB: CNY 2699 ($390)
