Leak confirms Xiaomi Redmi K30 Ultra with a MediaTek SoC, a 64 MP primary camera and a pop-up camera as 120 W Xiaomi charger appears at the 3C
A leak has seemingly confirmed the existence of the Xiaomi Redmi K30 Ultra. Spotted in a recent build of MIUI 12 by XDA Member kacskrz, who the website considers an "frequent and trusted Xiaomi tipster", the Redmi K30 Ultra would be the umpteenth device bearing the Redmi K30 name that Xiaomi has created.
According to XDA Developers, the Redmi K30 Ultra may well be codenamed "cezanne". While code snippets in MIUI 12 do not definitely link the Redmi K30 Ultra to "cezanne", the two names are mentioned alongside each other. The website adds that other code snippets refer to "cezanne" as having a 64 MP primary camera, along with a pop-up front-facing camera.
While those camera details make the Redmi K30 Ultra or "cezanne" sound like another Redmi K30 Pro, XDA Developers also claims to have seen evidence of the device's SoC. Apparently, a MediaTek chip will be powering the device, which would diverge from the Qualcomm chips that Xiaomi has used in previous Redmi K-series devices.
XDA Developers does not claim to know what MediaTek chip is inside of "cezanne". However, it posits that the SoC may be a Dimensity on account of its possible "Ultra" branding. The website also draws attention to the rumour that Xiaomi is working on a Dimensity 1000+ powered device. Circulated by Digital Chat Station, the device was thought to be called the Redmi K40.
The news from XDA Developers comes in the wake of a 120 W Xiaomi charger passing through the 3C. According to the image below, the charger supports 120 W at 20 V/6 A and has the model number MDY-12-ED. Xiaomi is not the only OEM to be pioneering 120 W charging, though. iQOO and Vivo have all released devices that can handle 120 W charging, for example.
