The Xiaomi Mi TV Stick appears to be getting closer to an official launch, as details about the gadget have been appearing via Geekbench, Google Play Console, and on official Google certification. It is the 1080p (FHD) Mi TV Stick model that has been spotted recently, although there is evidence of a 4K (UHD) device too.

There have been a number of leaks concerning the Xiaomi Mi TV Stick lately, with the gadget even appearing on certain retailer sites even though Xiaomi hasn’t officially launched the dongle(s) yet. Appearing in promo material is arguably the closest to confirmation the Mi TV Stick has had so far, but now it has also been discovered receiving Google approval, being listed on the Google Play Console, and giving up its processor secrets on Geekbench.

Firstly, the Xiaomi Mi TV Stick codenamed “aquaman” and with the model number MiTV-AESP0 was spotted receiving its Google certification. The same hawk-eyed source, Android TV Guide, also posted a Geekbench record for the same model number that revealed this particular Xiaomi Mi TV Stick features a quad-core Amlogic processor, which was later shown to be the S805Y (see below) that supports up to 1080p (FHD) output. Further Geekbench records for the presumed 4K Mi TV Stick model, MiTV-ANSP0, were also discovered that show the presence of an Amlogic S905X3 chip.

The icing on the cake in terms of an expected upcoming official reveal for the Xiaomi Mi TV Stick(s) is the appearance on Google Play Console. The Android TV gadget's title is clear as daylight and there is also a reference to “aquaman”, confirming this particular Mi TV Stick model as the 1920x1080-capable device with the abovementioned Amlogic S805Y chipset. So that’s pretty much done and dusted for the FHD model, now we just need to wait for the 4K Xiaomi Mi TV Stick to start showing up in similar circumstances.
