MIUI 12 may gain a Google Pixel exclusive camera feature
While Xiaomi is yet to finish even the first round of its MIUI 12 release schedule, XDA Developers has revealed that the company is already working on improvements to the latest version of its in-house OS. The feature in question is not available to try just yet, but its presence has been spotted in a version of the Mi Camera app found in recent China Beta builds.
According to XDA Developers, the camera app contains the following strings:
<string name="pref_camera_ai_shutter_description">Select best moment automatically when pressing the shutter button</string>
<string name="pref_camera_ai_shutter_title">AI shutter</string>
XDA Developers stresses that the text has been translated from Chinese, so its grammar is improper. However, we can still glean that AI shutter takes multiple shots upon triggering the shutter button, much like Google's Top Shot. Found on Pixel smartphones, Top Shot allows you to pick your desire shot from a burst of images that it captures. We have also included Google's explainer on how Top Shot works if you are unaware of the technology.
The website adds that the presence of AI shutter in a China Beta build of MIUI does not necessarily guarantee that it will be issued to the stable branches of Xiaomi's OS too. However, it could prove a genuinely useful feature, especially when photographing moving subjects.
