Android 11 is around the corner, with Google already having released two beta builds of its new OS to select devices. Now, Huawei has confirmed that its in-house version of Android 11 is in development and will be arriving this quarter. Called EMUI 11, we should point out that Huawei's OS will be based on open-source Android 11, rather than the version that comes pre-installed with Google apps and services.
According to Wang Chenglu, President of Huawei Consumer Business Software, EMUI 11 will be showcased at the Huawei Developer Conference 2020 (HDC 20) in August. However, he did not divulge the date on which Huawei plans to host the conference.
Additionally, the first devices to be released running EMUI 11 will be the Mate 40 series. With that said, Chenglu added that the Mate 30 series should be the first devices to receive EMUI 11 courtesy of beta updates. Again, Chenglu did not offer any hints about the dates by these events would occur, though.
EMUI 11 will be joined by Magic UI 4.0 and HongMeng OS 2.0. Huawei will issue Magic UI 4.0 to Honor-branded smartphones and tablets, while HongMeng OS 2.0 will be exclusive to TVs and other Smart Home products.
