Recent EMUI 10 and EMUI 10.1 updates may be causing battery problems for some Huawei devices
Huawei continues to bring EMUI 10.1 to more devices, with the company recently reporting that it has released its latest OS upgrade to 39 devices as of the beginning of this month. While that number only applies to devices in China, the company has also started rolling out EMUI 10.1 to devices like the P30, P30 Pro, Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro in other regions. Huawei has recently published several upgrade plans too, which detail that around 13 devices are or will soon be upgraded to EMUI 10.1 in regions like Western Europe.
With that said, there have been multiple instances of some devices experiencing battery problems on EMUI 10.1 and even EMUI 10. The problems appear to centre on two issues. Firstly, Huawei Central claims that some people have reported cases of their devices being stuck at 60% charge. Apparently, devices will not charge above this level, but Huawei Central claims that Huawei has confirmed that it is working to address the issue.
The second issue concerns battery drain, which appears to be chiefly affecting the P20 on EMUI 10 or the P30 Pro on EMIU 10.1. According to multiple threads, the devices have been exhibiting excessive battery drain. Huawei has recently issued a new update to the P30 and P30 Pro that Huawei Central claims has "fixed the battery drain problem", although this is unconfirmed. One workaround that has been suggested is to uninstall Facebook, but other people have stated that the problem occurs even if Facebook is not installed. Conversely, some people have seen the battery life of their handsets improve since installing EMUI 10.1, so the battery drain issue may only be affecting a select number of devices.
