OnePlus has been forthcoming about the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro so far, and has even gone so far as to publish renders of both devices. Additionally, the company has provided umpteen camera details about the OnePlus 9 Pro, as we have reported. However, now OnePlus has now moved onto display teasers in the run-up to the OnePlus 9 series launch day on March 23.
According to posts on Weibo by Pete Lau, the OnePlus 9 Pro will have an LTPO display with a 120 Hz peak refresh rate. While the OnePlus 8 Pro and OnePlus 8T possess 120 Hz displays too, the LTPO panel in the OnePlus 9 Pro will allow it to vary its refresh rate, which should reduce power consumption and increase battery life. Specifically, OnePlus asserts that the LTPO panel in the OnePlus 9 Pro will be capable of running at between 1 Hz and 120 Hz.
In a separate post, OnePlus has confirmed that it has called the OnePlus 9 Pro's display a 'Fluid Display 2.0', undoubtedly referring to the added smoothness that an LTPO should provide over the AMOLED displays in previous OnePlus smartphones. Incidentally, the OnePlus 9 Pro's display will have a 10-bit colour depth like its predecessor and will reach 1,300 nits.
Furthermore, OnePlus reports that DisplayMate has awarded the OnePlus 9 Pro's display an A+, its highest rating. The company has included the quote that the OnePlus has 'an excellent top tier world class smartphone display' too, although we imagine that this is all we will from DisplayMate about the OnePlus 9 Pro until next Tuesday.
