The OPPO Reno6 series is tipped to launch with the new Dimensity 1200 processor
OPPO launched the fifth generation of Reno-series smartphones in late 2020. However, it's not unusual for the OEM to update this line on a roughly half-yearly basis, and it now looks like this is happening to its latest iteration already. These hints come courtesy of new leaks pointing to what could indeed be Reno6 and possibly 6 Pro models.
According to what seem to be screenshots and 3C declarations grabbed and posted by the leaker Abhishek Yadav, OPPO is gearing up to release a new device with the model number PEPM00. As the Find X3 Pro is the PEEM00, this is a pretty solid indication this tip pertains to another 2021 phone from the company.
The shots indicate that it rocks the MediaTek MT6893 - or the recently-debuted Dimensity 1200. The Reno5 Pro ran on its immediate predecessor, the 1000+; therefore, this PEPM00 could indeed be a 6-series smartphone. Its new leak also suggests that it will have a display with a 90Hz refresh rate, 8GB of RAM and 65W charging - also all features of the 5 and 5 Pro.
TENAA might hint that their putative replacements might differ in one respect, at least. It has certified an OPPO PEXM00 as a phone with a display measuring 6.43 inches and a dual-cell (4,200mAh) battery - more specs in common with the Reno5 line, in other words.
However, those phones launched with an LG Velvet-esque rear panel, whereas the images attached to this leak show a phone with a rather less distinctive look, much like that of the non-vegan-leather Realme GT. Furthermore, its triple shooters reportedly contains a 64MP main sensor.
Therefore, it may be that these 2 upcoming phones are indeed 2021 Renos with iterative SoC updates, albeit with a considerable design re-think. Should this be the case, we might expect the phones to launch some time within the next 2 months from today.
