Oppo is planning to release another Reno5 smartphone, this time a budget 'A' model. The Reno5 A will have a large display, a 64 MP primary camera and a capacitive fingerprint scanner, among other features.

Oppo has already released several smartphones under the Reno5 series, including the Reno5 4G, Reno5 5G and the Reno5 Pro 5G. However, Evan Blass has revealed that the company has another model in the works, and it has called it the Reno5 A. There was no Reno4 A, but there was a Reno3 A that Oppo released last year.

Blass asserts that Oppo has codenamed the Reno5 A 'Ciri' and claims that it has a 6.5-inch display. This would make it slightly larger than the ones in the Reno5 4G, 5G and K, so the A may not have the 90 Hz refresh rates that the other Reno5 devices offer. The presence of a capacitive fingerprint scanner suggests that Oppo has used a different display at any rate, as the other Reno5 models have under-display sensors. Hence, we suspect that Oppo has equipped the Reno5 A with an IPS display instead of an OLED one.

The Reno5 A will be a 5G handset though, giving it at least one advantage over the Reno5 4G. It is unclear what SoC Oppo has chosen, nor if the Reno5 A has a 4,300 mAh battery like its stablemates. In saying that, the renders confirm that the device has four rear-facing cameras, of which a 64 MP sensor is its primary. Unfortunately, other camera details remain unknown, which is also the case for the Reno5 A's release date and its price.
