OPPO has registered schematics for a new phone with the European Union's Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). It looks a lot like one of the new Reno6 series - except for the new chassis that seems intended to come across as much more "gamer" than the existing variants. Therefore, the OEM might be preparing a rival for devices such as the Redmi K40 edition in the same vein.

OPPO has recently updated its Reno smartphones with the latest 6 series. Now, it seems the OEM is working on a new variant for the line - albeit one with a very different rear panel than usual. According to diagrams submitted to the EUIPO on May 28, 2021, it may have been designed with a landscape grip in mind.

This is due to its two-toned appearance, split into quarters with an X along the rear panel. This might give the impression of being a more rugged OPPO Reno than usual - were it not for the circular, central accent that might be intended to be equipped with LEDs. Apart from that, it is depicted as having what might be the Reno6's cameras and a 3.5mm jack.

These details have led to speculation that OPPO does indeed have something like a Reno6 Gaming Edition in the works. Then again, the rest of this device's specs remain unknown at this time. Therefore, whether it may be pitched as an Asus ROG Phone 5 competitor or more of a Redmi K40 Gaming Enhanced Edition rival is unclear at this point.
