Move over Find X3 series, your maker's first-gen flexible-display device is on the way. This (according to Google Translate) is the message to be gleaned from new Weibo post by the reliable tipster Digital Chat Station. However, fans of the possibility of a rollable phone revolution may be disappointed, as this 2Q2021 launch may not be for the innovative X, but for a foldable instead.
OPPO had presented an exciting, versatile concept device that could fold at multiple points, designed in conjunction with the Japanese studio Nendo, in late 2020. However, Digital Chat Station's new remarks offer no hint that the OEM's first-gen foldable will have anything in common with that prototype.
Nevertheless, its rumored debut may be a welcome addition to a market now projected to balloon in 2021. Should it really be that "interesting" compared to the Find X3 line, it may be capable of eclipsing other products, perhaps even those such as the Huawei Mate X2 - as indeed OPPO has recently outshone this foldable's OEM in the Chinese smartphone space.
