Last month, Motorola announced the Moto Watch Fit as its new smartwatch. While it revealed the watch will sell for £89.99 in the UK, pricing details for other regions were unavailable. Motorola has revealed pricing details for the Moto Watch Fit in the US and Canada.
According to 9to5Google, the Moto Watch Fit will cost $199 in the US and $249 in Canada. That's a lot to ask for considering the Moto Watch Fit doesn't run WearOS which brings Android apps neither does it have advanced health tracking features such as ECG and blood pressure.
It is not clear why Motorola is charging so much for the Moto Watch Fit in North America. While it can cite tariffs as an excuse for the US, that shouldn't be the case with Canada; and at these prices, the Moto Watch Fit will be a tough sell considering the many alternatives that cost significantly less while offering similar or even better features.
The Moto Watch Fit faces rivals such as the Amazfit Active 2 (available on Amazon for $99.99) which has a 1.32-inch display with up to 2,000 nits of brightness, support for over 160 sports modes, and a battery life of up to 10 days.
If you want a full-fledged smartwatch, there's the Samsung Galaxy Watch FE (curr. available for $167 on Amazon) which has ECG monitoring, blood pressure monitoring, among other health-tracking features. And since it runs WearOS, users can install apps from the Play Store on the smartwatch. It even has an LTE variant.
Motorola will begin selling the Moto Watch Fit on May 22 on its website but will eventually offer it on Amazon and Best Buy. The smartwatch has a 1.9-inch AMOLED display, Gorilla Glass 3, support for over 100 sports modes, built-in GNSS, heart rate and SpO2 monitoring, and a battery life of up to 16 days.
