Rumor | The Honor Magic V will have 2 high-refresh-rate screens, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and more
The Honor Magic V is an inaugural flagship foldable smartphone that might be capable of challenging the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 or OPPO Find N on its launch, and not just because it is touted to look and act most like these premium devices. According to the leaker Digital Chat Station, it might outdo both with the late 2021/early 2022 Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 flagship processor.
The V might also be the first device to ship with a new version of its brand's Magic UI, as it is now said to do so with a new version of this software based on Android 12. The foldable is slated to use this OS on a primary and secondary display, one of which, according to Digital Chat Station, will have a 90Hz refresh rate. The other will be able to go up to 120Hz - however, which display gets which spec remains a mystery as present.
In any case, both displays are now projected to come with punch-hole cameras, which may prove slightly disappointing as Honor's official teasers have vaguely hinted at no visible selfie camera in the main flexible panel at all.
The Magic V is also now said to have a main rear camera with a potentially crowd-pleasing 50MP resolution. There are no solid indications as to how this lens will look on the back of the foldable phone, although it has been said to borrow the 50-series camera hump, as the Find N sports that of the Reno6.
All in all, the Honor Magic V is shaping up to be the first foldable of note in 2022. Now, it remains to be seen how the OEM intends to price the first-gen phablet, and whether it will become available outside of its native China or not.
