With the launch of the Honor X30i and X30 Max earlier in 2021, some fans may have been wondering where the series' vanilla model went to. Now, the OEM has answered that question with an imminent launch for a device of an appropriate name.
The base X30 has now been partially revealed as a smartphone with a round "Star Ring" rear camera hump that may be a lingering after-effect of its maker's former relationship with Huawei. This one has a center dominated by text that reads "Matrix AI Vision Camera" rather than anything more functional, leaving its triple lenses to populate the outer circuit.
These shooters are said to be 48MP, 2MP and 2MP in resolution. On the other hand, the X30 is meant to contrast its aging design language with a relatively new Snapdragon 695 5G processor. It may drive a display with a central punch-hole camera.
The last of these details is confirmed by the X30's new preview page on JD.com, which also contains an official teaser specifying its date of launch as December 16, 2021. Accordingly, its series just might be complete on that day.
