Honor has been teasing its inaugural flagship foldable as an upcoming addition to the Magic brand for some time now, culminating in hints as to when it will finally launch. Now, the OEM has set this date in stone, through a new Weibo post that does some of the event's work for it by showcasing the device's design in much more detail.
Back when the Magic V was merely the stuff of leaks, it was projected that the foldable would launch with the "Cartier Ring" camera hump already in use by the mid-range 50 series of smartphones. However, according to the latest official tip, that is not the case.
The newly-revealed camera module has a small, central lens, overlapped by 2 much larger ones that flank it in an unusual way that might imply dual main shooters. They are enclosed in a portrait-oriented rectangular hump, sticking out by what looks like a fair bit from a pinstripe-patterned background in the same silver color as the device's hinge.
The first-gen foldable is thought to run on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, to charge at up to 66W and to ship with the latest Magic UI 6.0 based on Android 12. Honor may confirm or deny these details in the course of the Magic V's introduction in full on January 10, 2022.
