Exynos 2200: Samsung confirms an AMD RDNA 2 GPU and January 11 event for its next-gen flagship SoC
With the MediaTek Dimensity 9000, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, and Apple A15 Bionic all launched, Samsung's next-gen flagship chipset is all that remains uncovered. Not for long, though, as the company has now finally revealed what looks to be a launch date for its upcoming premium SoC, the Exynos 2200.
"#PlaytimeIsOver," Samsung Semiconductor announced on Twitter a few hours ago. "The gaming marketplace is about to get serious. Stay tuned for the next #Exynos with the new GPU born from RDNA 2. January 11, 2022."
That confirms that the Exynos 2200 will, indeed, feature an RDNA 2-based GPU. At the moment, all GPU benchmarks of the Exynos 2200 were run on early drivers, so it's hard to tell how powerful the SoC's GPU actually is. Recent leaks claim the Exynos 2200 will only better the Exynos 2100's GPU by 17% but those numbers are not to be taken seriously. Either way, we'll find out more about the Exynos 2200 on January 11.
