Update | Realme hints at a Dragon Ball Z Edition for the GT2 flagship series
Update: The Realme GT2 event has now concluded, and as it turns out, the Dragon Ball Custom Edition is a new, 12GB RAM/256GB storage version of the GT Neo2 with an appropriately-styled finish, a customized Realme UI variant and a box full of themed goodies, collectible cards included. It starts at 2,699 yuan (~US$424) in its OEM's Chinese webstore.
Original Article: Anime franchise co-brandings are hardly new to the Android smartphone world, particularly not to OPPO with its various Gundam- and EVA-themed special editions over the last few years. However, its sister brand Realme may have outdone it in many fans' eyes by securing an agreement to get the Dragon Ball Z name on one of its upcoming devices.
The OEM executive Chase Yu has outed this new collaboration in order to keep hype for the impending GT2 reveal event going. There is no out-and-out guarantee that this new 'Realme x Dragon Ball Z' device will be a member of this flagship series; on the other hand, it will be unveiled alongside the rest of these handsets on January 4, 2022.
Accordingly, this new special-edition smartphone will take the stage alongside the GT2 Pro's other themed variants, currently believed to include "Camera-" and "Master-" themed variants. Realme has yet to reveal how their new sibling will look; however, it does assert that this "joint customized new mobile phone" will be a "sincere work built with passion".
Therefore, one might stand to expect a GT2 variant styled so as to pay homage to its new, potentially nostalgia-sparking theme to the best effect possible.
