Realme has confirmed that the second-gen GT-series flagship smartphones will launch shortly in December 2021. Then again, only the GT2 Pro has been officially named thus far. A new leak, based on some website source-code, now purports to identify the plain GT2 as well.

Realme has announced that the GT2 Pro, a smartphone to be an early example of Snapdragon 8 Gen 1-driven performance, will be unveiled on December 20, 2021. The OEM then proceeded to reveal teasers referring to a whole GT2 series, implying that there would be a vanilla variant (at least) that would debut alongside the top-end Pro as well.

Then again, there have been few concrete indications that the GT2 exists - until now. The well-known leaker Mukul Shama claims to have found a reference to the device within code for Realme India's website. Therefore, the latest word is that this more direct GT successor will indeed launch next week, in one country at least.

On the other hand, very little is known about this putative vanilla flagship besides its name: for example, it is not clear whether it will get the 3 "innovations" slated for its series, or if they will be reserved for its Pro sibling.

Then again, 91Mobiles now projects that it will have a display of 6.51 inches in diagonal length, driven by the Snapdragon 888 SoC rather than the 8 Gen 1 and will have a 5,000mAh battery.

However, the blog does not mention where it has gotten these details from. Accordingly, it may be as much of a mystery as the GT2 Pro - officially, at least - until its impending debut.
