The leaks surrounding the future of Samsung's top-end Galaxy S and Note series are getting more intriguing and twisty by the day. Long-standing rumors of the latter having been discontinued for good have recently been upturned by new claims that there will be a successor for the latest 20 Ultra model after all. Now, however, it seems it will arrive in a form than one might not expect.
The Galaxy S21 Ultra did launch with support for the iconic S Pen usually associated with the Galaxy Note line - however, it may have come across as less than convincing: the early 2021 flagship lacked on-board storage for the popular accessory, and in fact needed a custom case to carry it around. However, according to the latest leaks, this deficiency has been corrected in its S22 counterpart.
They consist of supply-chain rumblings, and, most recently, renders from a typically reliable source portraying the S22 Ultra as much more of a Galaxy Note 21 Ultra. Now, GalaxyClubNL claims to have something completely different to add momentum to this train.
There are no images to go with this one; nevertheless, the blog asserts that Samsung has developed an internal S Pen sensor specifically for the S22 Ultra. This component has been present in the Note devices for a couple of years now, and causes their displays to automatically activate on stylus deployment (with the appropriate little sound-effect to match).
Therefore, should this claim be proven accurate, it seems a Galaxy S and Note series merger might be more of a reality than ever. Then again, Samsung is also rumored to have rollable and flexible models that might override this concept one day.
