Teenage Engineering’s 'Field System' portable audio devices pack in everything the Swedish brand does best — gorgeous design, top-notch build and sound quality and, of course, eye-watering prices to match. Now, fans of the brand can add three more items to that perpetual wish-list.
The company has announced a new textured, matte-black finish for three devices: the TP-7 recorder, the CM-15 condenser mic and the TX-6 mixer. The new colourway perfectly matches the recently launched OP-XY synthesizer sampler sequencer (curr. $2,299 on Amazon)
The CM-15 (curr. $1,199 on Amazon) is a studio-quality, large-diaphragm condenser microphone that offers mini-XLR, USB-C and 3.5mm mini-jack connectivity for a wide range of usage scenarios. It also has a built-in rechargeable battery for when USB or 48V phantom power are unavailable.
The TP-7 (curr. $1,499 on Amazon) is compact audio recorder unlike any other, featuring the company's signature, innovative tactile controls. These include a motorised 'tape-reel' style wheel for pausing or scrubbing through audio files.
Finally, the TX-6 (curr. $1,199 on Amazon) is a palm-sized mixer and audio interface with 6 stereo channels, that somehow also packs in several audio effects, an equalizer, drum-machine, synthesizer and sequencer. Phew.
The only member of the Field System family that's left out of the all-black treatment is the iconic OP-1 Field synthesizer/groovebox, which is only available in the original silver and white. The other devices (except for the OP-XY) will also continue to be available in silver.
Price aside, all three devices have received high praise from the likes of Marques Brownlee (who regularly uses the CM-12 mic, and will surely appreciate the option to get one in his favourite matte-black finish).
