The new P250Q-M80 M.2 drives from TeamGroup will let you wipe your data with the press of a button. The drives come in 256 GB up to 2 TB capacities but there is no information on when they will go on sale just yet.

TeamGroup, a well-established player in the computer storage space, services many different avenues including defense, medical care, transportation, retail, and more. They also sell mainstream commercial storage drives for gamers and server use cases. For the more data sensitive departments, the company has launched its P250Q-M80 M.2 SSD that comes with one-click data destruction technology.

Available in 256 GB, 512 GB, 1 TB, and 2 TB capacities, the PCIe 4.0 M.2 SSDs are built with robust hardware and software. They come with features like S.M.A.R.T tool for monitoring and managing disk health and potential disk problems, 3D TLC NAND Flash, a 112-layer 3D TLC, and military test certification. But what the P250Q-M80 stand out for is the one-click data destruction that allows users to easily wipe data stored on these drives.

With this feature, different durations of a button press will trigger different erasure modes which will be supported by LED indicators. They also have Intelligent Dual-Mode Data Destruction and Intelligent Continuous Execution Mechanism enabled by a Secure Independent Destruction Circuit. With Garbage Collection, the durability and performance of SSD is increased as the drives can separate and unify invalid data and valid data, and erase invalid data together. On the other hand, Global Wear Leveling can prioritize blocks with fewer erasing times based on P/E cycle calculations and then write data on these blocks first.

As for speeds and durability, the P250Q-M80 drives are capable of 7,000 MB/s sequential reads and 5,500 MB/s sequential writes. They are MIL-STD-202G certified and rated for over 3 million hours MTBF (Mean Time Before Failure). TeamGroup coves the P250Q drives under its three-year warranty.

As of now, TeamGroup has not shared information on availability or pricing for these drives.
