Still normal or already Pro? What we noticed while testing the OnePlus 7T.

The small notch differentiates the OnePlus 7T from the OnePlus 7 Pro.
The small notch differentiates the OnePlus 7T from the OnePlus 7 Pro.
The OnePlus 7T has become a very high-quality upper class smartphone that clearly stands out from its predecessor. Many features from the OnePlus 7 Pro have been adopted. Is the possible 7T Pro redundant? You can read here what we discovered in our review.

Actually, the OnePlus 7T was just announced, but the manufacturer organized an early launch for the important Indian market this year in order to present the smartphone at the same time as its OnePlus TV.

So we received a test device in advance and were able to start a big review before the official launch, and we'd like to give you a summary of its results here.

The OnePlus 7T has inherited the 90-Hz display of the OnePlus 7 Pro, and it responds to inputs very smoothly and immediately. This would also be good news for all gamers because especially with fast-paced action games that support higher frame rates, much faster reactions would be possible. However, in many games, the 90-Hz mode only works after doing a trick on the OnePlus devices. You'll find out about it in our review.

The cameras have also received an upgrade, and there are now three lenses on the back, which have even received some detail improvements compared to the last generation. The great detail reproduction and the strong colors were inherited. You can get an idea of this yourself in our big review of the OnePlus 7T with the help of numerous test images.

We found heat development in the smartphone to be the biggest criticism. The manufacturer doesn't seem to have such a good grip on it this time: During our endurance test, the smartphone turned off and referenced overheating. This test is actually an extreme scenario, but most other smartphones complete it without any problems. OnePlus has investigated internally and indicated that such problems are not yet known. We'll receive another review device for follow-up testing; let's see what we find out. As soon as we know more, we'll update our review of the OnePlus 7T accordingly.

In addition, the screen is not quite at the level of last year's Pro model in terms of resolution and color accuracy, and this year you can't chose between different storage configurations.

According to the manufacturer, the OnePlus 7T should be priced in alignment with its predecessor. This would make it a very good offering in the upper class. However, there are still points where OnePlus could market its Pro model, so we're looking forward to the launch event tonight, when maybe a Pro model and the final prices for the OnePlus 7T will be announced.
